I was awarded a Ph.D. in Music, and the “George Enescu” Prize of the Romanian Academy, alongside several Romanian Composers & Musicologists Association’ Prizes.

Adrian BORZA is one of the most important Romanian composers of interactive music. He is also a programmer, researcher, media artist, and music producer. His compositions and interdisciplinary research focus on the interaction between performers and computers.

He studied Composition with Cornel Țăranu and Cristian Misievici. He obtained his doctorate in Music (2004). He is a university professor at the "Gheorghe Dima" National Academy of Music, where he teaches Composition, Music Analysis and Interactive Music Systems. He is a member of the Council of the "Sigismund Toduţă" Doctoral School and editorial board of Studia Musica.

Adrian Borza introduced the Interactive Music Systems discipline into the curriculum of the Theoretical Faculty of ANMGD (2008) and coordinated the "Elektro Arts" Festival (2013-2018).

In 2013, he was awarded the "George Enescu" Prize of the Romanian Academy for the work "If" (for oboe and interactive computer). He was awarded with prestigious awards: the Romanian Composers and Musicologists Association’s Awards (2012, 2013, 2018) and the "Destellos" Award (2019).

He carries out an intense publishing activity, being the author of numerous books, studies and articles related to algorithmic, computer and interactive music, among which "Music and computer" (Ed. Muzicală, 2008), "Prolegomena to Interactive Music Systems" (Studia Musica , 2010), "iFPH: Wireless Control of Sound" (Studia Musica, 2012), "The Sound of Image Morphogenesis" (Studia Musica, 2015), "Computer Music Performance through Non-tactile Gestures" (TIC, 2018) "Systems Muzicale Interactive: Initiation in Algorithmic Art" (Ed. Muzicală, 2019), "The Paradigm of Granularity in the Electroacoustic Music of Iannis Xenakis" (Studia Musica, 2022).

His discography brings together instrumental and electroacoustic works: "Désintégration" (Hungaroton Classic, 1994), "Fragile" (Nova Musica, 2008), "Transylvanian Suite" (Baroccoco, 2008), "Drones II" (UCMR/SSR, 2017), "If" (Electronic Masters, Ablaze Records, 2020).

He has composed symphonic, chamber, vocal-instrumental and electroacoustic works (for theater and technological dance), including the "Fractus Series: The Sound of Image" (1999-2012), "Point. Line. Spot" for string orchestra (2003), "80 after Max" (2006), "Dusk" (2007), "Relocation" for saxophone and live electronic (2007), the interactive audio-visual show "Here and Now" (2015), the "Shadows" Symphony (2019).

His music has been performed all over the world: ISCM World New Music Days, Electronic Music Midwest, Fringe, Musica Viva, Outside the Box New Music, Earfest, Arts of Sounds, Oscillations, La Nuit Bleue, International New Music Week, Cluj Modern, Days of Romanian Music, Meridian, Festival Internacional de la Imagen, Zepellin, Ai-maako.

He has received commissions from soloists, ensembles and institutions including the Swedish Concert Institute, Magnus Andersson, Jörgen Pettersson, the Transylvania Baroque Ensemble and Daniel Kientzy & Reina Portuondo.
